Luella Johnson

Luella Senora Johnson, age 90, of Crosby, N.D., passed away on Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012, at the Good Samaritan Center in Crosby.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at Concordia Lutheran Church in Crosby, with Pastor Rob Garton officiating. Burial will follow at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in rural Ambrose. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. today, Jan. 2, at Stakston-Martin Funeral Home in Crosby and also Thursday, one hour before the service, at the church.

Luella Senora Johnson was born Feb. 11, 1922, in Troy Township, Divide County, to Ole and Matilda (Westby) Overland. She attended Lexington Country School. Luella grew up and helped with her siblings and mother on the family farm. Luella held various jobs before marrying Edmond Johnson in 1954. They lived on the Johnson homestead until their retirement in 1985.

In the fall of 2006, she entered the Crosby Good Samaritan Society, where she resided until her death.

She was baptized and confirmed at Troy Lutheran Church, rural Crosby, N.D., and later became a member of Trinity and Concordia Lutheran churches, rural Ambrose and Crosby. Luella was very involved with her church, taught Sunday school and was a lifetime member of Ladies Aid.

Luella truly enjoyed cooking, gardening, canning, sewing and tending to her flowers. Luella loved and lived for her family and took great pride in her very special grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She felt very blessed to have her two daughters-in-law and most of her grandchildren taking care of her at the nursing home where she lived. Even at the very end, Luella still enjoyed an ice cold Diet Coke.

Luella was preceded in death by her husband, Edmond; her parents; brothers, Orville and Gordon; sister, Julie; and infant brother, Stanley.

Luella is survived by: a son, Neil (Jo), of Fortuna, N.D., and their children, Landon and his wife Jen and their son Mason, Erin and her daughters, Bella and Andrea; a son, Norman (Geralyn), of Ambrose, and their children, Austin, Tanaya (Derek Nordstog), Coltyn, and Tierany; a daughter, Darla (Alan), and their son Chandler, of Bismarck; her beloved sister, Doris, of Crosby; a sister-in-law, Ardelle, of Williston, N.D.; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorials: The family prefers memorials to the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery Association in Ambrose.
