Larry Gegelman, 62, of Casselton, died peacefully on Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, in Casselton.
Larry Dean Gegelman was born April 13, 1950, in Hazen, to Anton and Hertha (Wolf) Gegelman. He grew up in Alexander. He attended Alexander High School, Concordia College, Moorhead, Minn., and NDSU, Fargo, dedicating his life to education.
He was married to Patricia (Bergstrom) Gegelman in 1976. They made homes in Edmore, Starkweather, Towner, and Casselton with their three children.
Larry dedicated his time and energy to those around him. In 2012 he was named Central Cass Booster of the Year. He volunteered at the Casselton Ambulance and the Casselton Parks and Recreation department. He was also an active member of Martin’s Lutheran Church, Casselton. His commitment to the community will be greatly missed.
Larry enjoyed family, friends, sports and the outdoors. When all of these were involved he was the happiest. Everyone will remember him the most for being an inspiration and living life to the fullest.
Larry is survived by: his wife, Patricia; children, Andrew (Jamie) Gegelman, of Jamestown; Lyndsy (Brian) Lynch, of Breckenridge, Minn.; Madison Gegelman, of Grand Forks; grandchildren, Hunter Gegelman, Griffin Gegelman, and Mayson Lynch; sisters, Sharon (Glenn) Bertsch, Sandi (Jim) Rader, Eunice (Clyde) Frank; and sister-in-law, Wendy Skjerven Gegelman.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Randy.
Funeral: Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, 10 a.m., at Martin’s Lutheran Church, Casselton.
Visitation and prayer service: Visitation Thursday, Jan. 10, from 4 to 6 p.m., with a prayer service Thursday at 6 p.m. in Martin’s Lutheran Church, Casselton.
