Kohl’s coming soon
Kohl’s Department Stores is planning a grand opening at its new Minot store March 6.
Kohl’s will be holding a job fair Saturday through Wednesday at Sleep Inn & Suites, 2400-10th St. SW. The times of the job fair are 10:45 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, 10:45 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Sunday, 11:45 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday, and 8:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday. Applicants should go through the hotel’s main entrance and find the front desk area, where signs will be posted giving the exact location of the job fair.
Larry Anderson, vice president and district manager, said there will be a soft opening for the Minot store, located next to Hobby Lobby at the former Walmart location, on March 3, with a grand opening scheduled for March 6.
There are approximately 105 positions to fill, including register operators, department associates, customer service associates, early morning freight unloaders and evening ad set associates.
Anderson said they already started interviewing for some of the full-time and key positions several weeks ago, so most of the remaining positions are part-time. He said there are still three full-time supervisory openings, however.
Applicants should visit (www.kohlscareers.com) or call 1-877-639-5645 to schedule an interview and obtain additional information regarding times and location. Anderson said they will also accept walk-in applicants who aren’t able to schedule an interview beforehand.
Finding employees has been a challenge for many businesses in Minot, and Anderson said they are using a variety of media to draw enough people to fill out the staff.
“We’re finding that the community is very excited about Kohl’s opening, so we’re spreading the word through newspapers, radio, billboards and other sources,” Anderson said.
Anderson is very excited to get their Minot store up and running. He said it will fill a definite need in the area and will give shoppers access to all the merchandise Kohl’s offers without a two-hour trip south to Bismarck.
“We’ve had a store in Bismarck for several years, and a lot of our Minot customers of course frequented that store,” Anderson said. “We’re hearing from applicants as well as other people in the community that are very excited to have their own Kohl’s store and come visit us more frequently.”
