Joseph Jacobson

Joseph Jacobson, 67, Minot, passed away Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, at Trinity Hospital in Minot.

Joseph O. Jacobson was born Sept. 9, 1945, the son of Henry and Crystal (Gjefle) Jacobson, in Seattle. Joseph graduated from Minot High School in 1963. He then attended Minot State College for a couple of years.

Joe enlisted in the Army on Sept. 28, 1971. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged on March 13, 1972.

He worked for 3M in Minneapolis before moving to Washington, D.C., where he worked as a legislative assistant for Sen. Quentin Burdick. Upon moving back to Minot in the 1980s he ran the Bottineau Golf Course and worked at Souris Valley Golf Course in Minot. He was a longtime employee at Global Auto in Minot, where he enjoyed driving across the country to deliver or pick up vehicles for his friends at Global Auto.

Joe’s favorite things in life were his family and friends. He liked being called “Uncle Joe” by everyone. He enjoyed watching his nieces ride horses in competitive barrel racing; he also enjoyed attending rodeos with his dear friends. He loved Russian and English history. He had a love for reading and politics. Each Christmas he loved watching the Christmas Mass on TV that was held in Rome and celebrated by the pope.

Surviving family includes: sister, Shirley (Murrel) Price, Minot; brother, Robert (Jean) Jacobson, Rugby; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.

Joseph was preceded in death by: his parents; sister, Elgie Baerwald; and his brother, Arlo Jacobson.

Mass of Christian Burial: Wednesday, Jan. 16, 11 a.m., at St. Leo’s Catholic Church, Minot.

Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.

Vigil Prayer Service: Tuesday, 5 p.m., at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
