State basketball tournament tickets on sale Jan. 23

Tickets for the 2013 Class B boys state basketball tournament go on sale beginning Jan. 23 at noon. Tickets can be ordered through Vendini, Minot State University’s online ticket agent, by logging on to (

Tickets will also be available by calling the MSU ticket office at 701-858-3041 or by showing up in person to the ticket office. Requests can also be made through the mail with a $4 shipping and handling fee by sending checks payable to ND State Boys BB Tournament to the following address:

The cost to purchase reserved seating is $44 for all three days and $21 for student unreserved seats.

Boag earns NSIC Player of the Week honors

Minot State University forward Carly Boag was named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Player of the Week.

Boag, a junior from Tamworth, Australia, averaged 22.5 points and 11.5 rebounds as the Beavers swept Upper Iowa and Winona State at the MSU Dome last weekend.

She tied an MSU single-game scoring record in a 78-63 win over UIU, netting 37 points – the most by any NSIC player this season.

The Beavers (8-5, 4-5) play host to in-state NSIC rival University of Mary tonight at 6 p.m.

Our Redeemer’s Knights roll past Garrison

GARRISON – The Our Redeemer’s Christian School girls basketball team placed three scorers in double figures and knocked down nine 3-pointers in a 63-36 blowout of Garrison on Monday.

The Knights (5-3) were paced by eighth-grader Morgan Olson’s 22 points, a performance that included a game-high four 3s. Emily VanLith and Jenny Skees added 16 and 11 points, respectively.

ORCS outscored the Troopers in each quarter, including 19-6 in the final stanza.

Libbi Hasenwinkel led Garrison with eight points and Ellie Gehring scored seven.

Both teams play their next games on Thursday, with ORCS hosting Mohall-Lansford-Sherwood and Garrison hosting Flasher.
