Beavers grapplers lose to Upper Iowa

FAYETTE, Iowa – The Minot State wrestling team dropped another Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference dual this weekend, falling 40-11 to Upper Iowa on Sunday.

The Beavers, who had their worst outing of the year in a 54-0 loss to Minnesota State-Mankato on Saturday, dropped to 1-11 overall and 0-4 in NSIC duals.

Richard Avakovs was a bright spot for Minot State, going up four weights to win a 184-pound bout by the score of 19-2.

Another MSU winner was heavyweight Bobby Bartz, who pinned UIU’s Jeremy Brazil just four minutes, 13 seconds into the match.

The Beavers host Minnesota State-Moorhead on Thursday at the MSU Dome.
