Character Counts banquet approaching

The annual Character Counts Awards Banquet will be held at 6:15 p.m. Jan. 30 on the third floor of the Minot State University Student Union.

Tickets, including the cost of a buffet meal, cost $15. Tickets are available at area school offices and at the Minot Public School Administration Office. For more information, call the board office at 857-4426. Tickets must be purchased prior to Friday.

Twenty-three area youth and four community selections will receive awards.

National American Youth Character Award Recipients are Julia Beck, Jim Hill Middle School; Kelsey Krill and Zach Krill, both Erik Ramstad Middle School; Thomas Burke, Bishop Ryan High School; Natalie Couture, Minot High School-Central Campus; and Monica Olson, Minot High School-Magic City Campus.

American Youth Character Award Recipients are Luke Naser, Benjamin Mayer, Abbey Steckler, all Bishop Ryan; McKayla Flom, Cassandra Stauffer, Peter Wilson, all Magic City Campus; Kasidi Scott, Central Campus; Ashlyn Kossan, Jason Putt, both Ramstad; Taylor Benno, Thea Bonebrake and Hailey Espe, all Jim Hill; Ethan Hinkle, Sabrina Richard and Sarah Peterson, all Our Redeemer’s Christian School; Grace Rose Davison and Michael Two Hearts, both Dakota Elementary School.

Community Character Builder Awards will go to Minot Beavers Hockey, 21st Century Community Learning Centers, Minot High School-Magic City Campus Character Counts! Club and Nancy Langseth, former school board president.
