Rienholt “R.H.” Heller, 85, rural Blaisdell, died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, at his home. His funeral service is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Springan Funeral Home, Stanley. Visitation is today, Feb. 5, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Springan Funeral Home, Stanley. Burial will be in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, south of Mandan.
Rienholt Herman Heller was born Jan. 3, 1928, on the family farm in Berthold Township, Ward County, to Lewis and Lydia Heller. He was raised and attended school in that area. R.H. started farming with his parents and brother until he entered the U.S. Navy during World War II. Following his discharge, he returned to the Blaisdell area and continued farming.
On June 10, 1951, R.H. married Lilly Moen in Carpio. He farmed and also worked on area oil rigs, did custom combining for many years and served as a professional Santa. R.H. was an excellent self-taught mechanic and welder. He was a lifelong member of the Farmers Union and American Legion. He enjoyed polka music and talking politics.
R.H. is survived by: his children, Renita, Renee, Ronald, Leslie, Leland and Ramona; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brothers, Joy and Arnold; sisters, Vivian, Violet and Viola.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lilly; brother, Harold; and an infant brother.
