MSU to unveil new wrestling room Friday

The Minot State University Athletic Department will host a ceremony at 6 p.m. Friday to unveil and dedicate the new wrestling room.

The ceremony will also honor Howard and Linda Anderson and Gene and Judy Krebs, who contributed significantly to making the new facility a reality.

“The Anderson and Krebs assisted in the re-establishment of our wrestling program,” MSU Athletic Director Rick Hedberg said in a press release. “Without their continued support, we would not have revived the program or created the wrestling room.”

Hors d’oeuvres and beverages will be served a 6 p.m. and tours of the Student Wellness Center will also be conducted. The ceremony begins at 6:30 p.m. on the lower level of the MSU Dome.

The event leads into MSU’s final home dual of the season when the Beavers host Southwest Minnesota State at 7 p.m.

UND men’s hockey stays at No. 7 in latest poll

The University of North Dakota men’s hockey team remained the seventh-ranked team in the country in the latest poll released Monday.

UND (14-8-6 overall, 9-5-6 WCHA) played Wisconsin to a 1-1 tie on Friday before defeating the Badgers 4-1 on Saturday to snap a five-game winless streak.

Minnesota continued its stay atop the rankings for another week, collecting 30 first-place votes in the process. Second-ranked Quinnipiac (Conn.) received the remaining 20 first-place votes.

UND travels to No. 14 Nebraska-Omaha for a two-game series starting Friday. Saturday’s game will be played outdoors at TD Ameritrade Park in the “Mutual of Omaha Battles on Ice” at 4:07 p.m.

UND gears up for outdoor hockey game at Omaha

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) – The University of North Dakota hockey team is gearing up for its outdoor game against Nebraska-Omaha.

UND scheduled an outdoor practice on Monday at University Park, in temperatures forecast to be in the teens. Coach Dave Hakstol said that the practice would be especially important for goaltenders, who will be dealing with different sight lines outside.

UND takes on Nebraska-Omaha indoors on Friday night in Omaha and then outdoors on Saturday afternoon at TD Ameritrade Park, the home of the College World Series.
