More details on White House, Pentagon ceremonies

Former U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Clint Romesha will be presented Monday with the Medal of Honor, the nation’s highest military honor, by President Barack Obama at the White House.

The presentation is scheduled for 12:15 p.m. Any time changes will be listed in the White House schedule at (www.whitehouse.gov/schedule).

On Tuesday, Romesha will be inducted into the Pentagon’s “Hall of Heroes” in Washington, D.C. The ceremony is scheduled for 3 p.m.

Both ceremonies are expected to be broadcast live on the Pentagon Channel and streamed live via its website at (www.pentagonchannel.mil.). Those interested also can check the Pentagon Channel website for any changes.

Romesha, who lives in Minot and works for KS Industries, an oil-field construction company in Tioga, is being honored for his actions at the Oct. 3, 2009, battle at Combat Outpost Keating in Afghanistan.

Romesha led the effort to retake the camp when 300 insurgents overran the approximately 52-man outpost, killing eight soldiers and wounding 22 soldiers, including Romesha. He will be presented the Medal of Honor for his actions.

Romesha and his wife, Tammy, grew up in California. He grew up in Lake City, Calif., and she grew up in Cedarville, Calif. They have three children; Dessi, Gwen and Colin.
