Victor Ripplinger, 85, of Minot, formerly of Selz, died Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, at the Souris Valley Care Center in Velva. His funeral services will be held at the St. Cecilia Catholic Church of Harvey on Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will be held at Hertz Funeral Home of Harvey on Wednesday, Feb. 13, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Prayer services will be held on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Hertz Funeral Home of Harvey. Burial will be at the St. Cecilia Catholic Cemetery, of Harvey.
Victor was born in Esmond on April 10, 1927. He was the son of John J. and Cecilia (Kunnanz) Ripplinger. Victor was raised and educated in the Selz and Harvey area. He entered the United States Army in 1945. He served in Bad Nauheim, Germany.
Victor married Annemarie Hilerhaus on Oct. 28, 1947, in Mannheim, Germany. He was honorably discharged in 1947. They returned to the family farm and began his passion and career as a farmer. In Victor’s early years of farming he purchased a new barn and enjoyed hosting several barn dances with local entertainment. Victor enjoyed his passion for farming and repairing his farm machinery. He also enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and other outdoor activities. He loved to go out and drive the neighborhood fields and view the crops and see the results of his hard labor.
Victor was a member of the St. Anthony Catholic Church of Selz, where he sang in the church choir. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, and the Wells Aerie 3080, all of Harvey. Victor was active with the board of directors and past president of the Farmers Union Elevator of Harvey.
Victor loved his family, his community, his church and his choir. Victor is in a good place now probably singing with the angels.
Victor is survived by: his wife, Annemarie Ripplinger, of Minot; sons, James (Bonnie) Ripplinger, Hank (Roberta) Ripplinger, Thomas (Virginia) Ripplinger, all of Minot, John Ripplinger, Mesa, Ariz., Ted Ripplinger, of Cecilia, Ky., Richard (Selena) Ripplinger, Boise, Idaho, Todd Ripplinger, of Bemidji, Minn., Scott (Susan) Ripplinger, of Fargo; daughters, Sharon Albert, Talihina, Okla., Mary O’Leary, Boca Raton, Fla., Dolores (Greg) Adams, Black Hawk, Colo., Darlene (George) Harris, Sacramento, Calif., Rosemary (Richard) Freeh, Jamestown; 27 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; brothers, John B. (Virginia) Ripplinger, of Harvey, LeRoy (Mildred) Ripplinger, Rice Lake, Wis., Eugene (Marlene) Ripplinger, McClusky, N.D.
Victor was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Henry Ripplinger and Bill Ripplinger; and sister, Leona Voyles.
