SHERWOOD Pasque Arlene “Pat” Coutts, 90, Minot, formerly of Sherwood, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at her home.
Pat was born on April 2, 1922, in Mohall, one of eight children born to Edward and Teena (Southard) Rufenacht. She was raised on the family farm outside of Mohall. Pat attended Business School in Minot and moved to San Francisco to work as an office assistant at a cannery. Later, she moved back to Mohall and worked at the bank.
On Sept. 3, 1952, Pat married William “Bill” Coutts, in Kenmare. Pat and Bill lived in Sherwood, where they raised their three children, William, Timothy, and Christine. Bill died in 1991. Pat continued to live in Sherwood until she moved to Minot in 2005. Mom was a lifelong reader and loved to bake for her family.
Family: Pat is survived by her children, Bill (JoAnn) Coutts, Glendale, Ariz., Tim (Sherry) Coutts, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Chris (Michael) Rabe, Highlands Ranch, Colo.; grandchildren, Jacob (Sara) Coutts, Casey Coutts, Jennifer (Brandon) Burris, Jessica (Pete) Haga, Adam (Emily) Coutts, Eric and Matthew Rabe; great-grandchildren, Amy, Evan, Emma, Morgan, Mason, Caitlyn, William and Quincy; sisters, Deota Bullock, Sherwood, and Irma Davison, Salem, Ore.; brother, Buford Rufenacht, Mohall; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pat was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; brothers, Meryl, Byrn, Dale and Edward Rufenacht; and grandson, Erik.
Memorial service: Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at 3 p.m., at the Sherwood United Methodist Church, Sherwood.
Burial: Sherwood Union Cemetery, in the spring.
Memorials: Memorials are preferred to the Mohall Library or the Sherwood United Methodist Church.
