‘Monster Moves’ to visit Minot AFB
MINOT AIR FORCE BASE – Plans are being made for the 91st Missile Wing at Minot Air Force Base to be featured in a segment of the Discovery Channel’s “Monster Moves.”
Col. Tom Summers, vice commander of the missile wing, told members of the Minot Area Chamber of Commerce’s Military Affairs Committee recently, that intercontinental ballistic missile operations will be featured in a segment of the show.
The 91st Missile Wing is one of three operational ICBM wings in Air Force Global Strike Command. Col. Robert Vercher is commander of the Minot missile wing. The wing is responsible for the Minuteman III ICBMs in the Minot missile field.
“Monster Moves” is a TV documentary in which the episodes follow high-risk jobs of moving massive structures from one location to another. The episodes have featured such moves as the relocation of houses, churches, trains, mega yachts and other ships across land and the ocean.
Capt. Genieve David, chief of Public Affairs at Minot AFB, said they expect the filming crew will visit the base in the next three months.
