MSU’s Carly Boag named conference POW

Minot State University junior Carly Boag was named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference player of the week on Monday for her performance in a pair of games over the weekend.

In the Beavers’ split against Bemidji State and Minnesota, Crookston, Boag averaged 32 points and 18 rebounds.

Boag, a native of Tamworth, Australia, has been named the NSIC player of the week three times this season. She leads the league in rebounding (11.9 per game) and is second in scoring (18.6 ppg).

The Beavers (12-12 overall, 8-12 NSIC) travel to Northern State (S.D.) and Minnesota State-Moorhead this weekend for their final regular-season games.

Thome throws no-hitter in UND opener

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Andrew Thome got the University of North Dakota’s baseball season off to a fine start on Monday, throwing a seven-inning no-hitter in a 2-1 win over NCAA Division III Mount Mary.

The sophomore struck out nine and walked just two. It was the fifth game of his career without allowing an earned run.

UND (1-0) scored the winning run in the sixth after Jacob Threlkeld scored from second on an infield groundout.
