Darwin Glenn Beckedahl, 69, Sherwood, was taken home by his Lord, being released from his struggle with cancer, on Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at Minot’s Trinity Hospital.
He was born Nov. 17, 1943, in Kenmare, to Melvin and Helen (Krueger) Beckedahl. He was raised and educated in the Sherwood area, and attended North Prosperity School and Sherwood High School.
Darwin married the love of his life, Jackie Weaver, on June 15, 1962, at Zion Lutheran Church, Mohall. Together they spent the majority of their 50 years of marriage farming the third-generation family homestead west of Sherwood. They were blessed with and raised three children. Darwin was extremely proud of his family and their successes.
Belief in Jesus as his Lord and Savior greatly impacted Darwin’s life. He demonstrated his faith by being an active church member; previously serving as a deacon in the Lutheran church and delegate to many synod conventions. At the time of his passing Darwin was a member of New Horizons Church of the Nazarene in Mohall.
Darwin particularly enjoyed watching FOX News, passionately debating politics (pro Republican) and was a longtime member of the National Rifle Association. He also loved spending time with his family outdoors camping, fishing and hunting.
