LeRoy E. Fixen

LeRoy E. Fixen, 73, a lifelong Williston resident, passed away Thursday night, Feb. 28, 2013, at the Mercy Medical Center in Williston.

LeRoy Ernest Fixen was born on Sept. 27, 1939, to Leonard and Elda (Abelmann) Fixen in Williston. He graduated from Alexander High School in 1958.

He was united in marriage to Clara Bachmeier on April 18, 1964. To this union were born four children: Eugene, Elaine, Donna and Sheila.

LeRoy was employed for Williston Packing as a meat cutter, Great Plains Supply as a house mover and carpenter and as a delivery and truck driver for Coca-Cola Bottling.

His hobbies included woodworking and fishing, coffee time at the Liars Club Coffee Club with his best buds and spending time watching his grandchildren in their various activities.

Surviving LeRoy are: his wife, Clara of Williston; his children, Eugene (Carol) Fixen and Elaine Fixen of Williston, Donna (Gene) Littlefield of Tonopah, Nev., and Sheila (Brian) Haaland of Williston; eight grandchildren, Zakary Littlefield of Piscataway, N.J., Ashley Fixen, Amber Fixen and Alex Haaland of Williston, Seth Littlefield and Spencer Littlefield of Tonopah, Elizabeth Haaland and Steven Fixen of Williston; brother, James (Rae) Fixen of Alexander; sisters, Deloris Hagen of Williston, Ellen Novak of Alexander, Edna (Ervin) Rehak and Darlene (Merrill) Benth of Williston; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Nick (MaryAnn) Bachmeier of Williston, John Bachmeier of Dayton, Nev., Joe (Lilian) Bachmeier of Havre, Mont., Bea Bachmeier of Casselton, Pete (Carol) Bachmeier and Bea (Marlin) Welk of Rugby; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; brother, Harley Fixen; brothers-in-law, George Novak, Vince Bachmeier, Al Brown and Wayne “Red” Hagen; sisters-in-law, Fran Bachmeier, Elsie Fixen and Katie Brown.

His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, March 6, at 2 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Williston. Father Russell Kovash will officiate.

Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery, Williston.

An afternoon vigil will be held Tuesday, March 5, at 4 at Everson Memorial Chapel, Williston.

Friends may call at the Everson Funeral Home of Williston, Tuesday from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m., Wednesday from 9 a.m. to noon and at the church for the hour preceding the funeral Mass.
