John Theodore Lade, 74, of Minot, passed away at his home on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013.
He was born to John Theodore Ludwig “Ted” and Irene (Klimpel) Lade, on April 1, 1938, in Minot. John grew up on the family farm and in Minot until graduating from Minot High School in 1956. He then enlisted in the Air Force. After basic training in Alabama, he was stationed in Bermuda for three years in radio communications.
On his return home he opened a TV and radio repair shop. Later he moved into repairing amps, organs and tuning the organs as well as pianos. After a work-related fall that injured his back and hand, he was unable to continue his passion.
He enjoyed gardening, spending time with his parents and helping on the family farm.
John was active in his church and lived his religion. He loved people and was always willing to help someone in need.
Whether he was praising God in song or serving God by helping others, he was truly a man after God’s own heart.
John is survived by: his sister, Marie (Ray) Reeb, of Loveland, Colo.; brothers, Wade (Leonora), of Tucson, Ariz., and Daniel (Edith), of Velva; nephews, Joe (Linda) Crosswhite, of Lidgerwood, David Reeb, of Centennial, Colo., Larry Lade, of Minneapolis, Roland (Sharon) Lade, of Horace, Carl (Jennifer) Lade, of Minot; nieces, Janet (Marc) Seter, of Loveland, Colo., Lorie (Olu) Fordham, of Tucson, Jennifer (John) Illich, of Fargo, and Sara Lade, of West Fargo; and numerous great-nephews and great-nieces.
John was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery Fund at First Western Bank and Trust, Minot.
Funeral: Friday, March 8, 2013, at 2 p.m. in Bethel Free Lutheran Church, Minot.
Burial: Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, 13 miles northwest of Minot.
Visitation: Thursday, March 7, from 2 to 7 p.m., in Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
