Myrna Ellison, 73, Velva, passed away Sunday, March 3, 2013, in a Minot nursing home.
Myrna S. Odland was born Jan. 12, 1940, in Detroit Lakes, Minn., to Alma Anderson Odland and Martin Odland. She was raised on the family farm and graduated from Frazee (Minn.) High School in 1958. Myrna then attended a business school in Minneapolis.
Myrna moved to Velva in 1961, and was once married to Marvin Jensen. From this union, a daughter, Karla, was born. Myrna later worked for Rued Insurance in Minot, where she and Karla lived until Myrna married Ivan Ellison on Aug. 3, 1974. They moved to Velva, where they had a son, Kyle, and they continued to live there and raise their family. Myrna stayed home and helped with the family business, Ellison Builders, of Velva.
She was a member of Oak Valley Lutheran Church in Velva, where she taught Sunday school for many years. Myrna enjoyed helping Ivan with maintaining their immaculate lawn and home. Myrna had many great friends, she enjoyed trips with the Bashers, Friday lunch bunch with friends, morning coffee sessions and weekends at their cabin at Crooked Lake. Her grandkids and great-grandkids were such a blessing to her, she looked forward to time with them every chance she could get. Her laugh was infectious.
Above all Myrna’s biggest source of pride and joy was talking about and spending time with her loving family, that included her husband, Ivan; children, Karla (Vernon) Boehm, Beulah, and Kyle (Mandy) Ellison, Rochester, Minn.; grandchildren, Kelsi (Nick) McFalin, of Casper, Wyo. , Lakin (Bruce) Green, Fargo, Isaac, Alex, and Ruby Ellison, all Rochester, Minn.; three great-grandsons, Aiden Green, Evan and Keyan McFarlin; sister, Marcia (Lowell) Lee, Battle Lake, Minn.; brother, LeOtis (Gloria) Vaaler, Elgin; brother-in-law, Jim (Irene) Ellison, Velva; sisters-in-law, Doris (Burdette) Kittelson, Velva, and Elaine Olson, Minneapolis; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
