Majettes’ offense struggles in loss to Mandan

BISMARCK – The Minot High School girls basketball team had an offensive performace it would like to forget in a 43-34 loss to Mandan in the first round of the West Region tournament on Thursday.

The Majettes (9-10) shot 28 percent from the field and senior forward Morgan Milbrath was the only Minot player to finish in double figures. Milbrath tallied a game-high 15 points on 7-of-10 shooting. The rest of the Majettes finished with six made field goals combined.

“We couldn’t buy a shot,” MHS coach Todd Magnuson said. “That’s the bottom line. We got down on ourselves with all the turnovers we had, which didn’t help. A lot of them were unforced errors.”

The Majettes committed 28 turnovers, only three of which were steals by Mandan.

Mariah Fredericks finished with a team-high 11 points for the Braves.

Minot plays Turtle Mountain in a loser-out game today at 4:30 p.m.
