Minot man dies in oilfield accident

Joshua Lee Hoiland, 31, Minot, was killed in an oilfield accident south of Stanley last Thursday evening. According to a release from the Mountrail County Sheriff’s Department, Hoiland was cleaning the inside of a vac truck owned by his employer, First Choice Energy Services of Minot, when an agitator inside the truck started and struck him in the head and chest.

At 7:05 p.m. Thursday, the Stanley Fire Department rescue squad, Stanley Ambulance and Mountrail County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene. Hoiland was found unresponsive and was pronounced dead at the scene. The truck was on an oil location owned by Fidelity Exploration and Production, about six miles southwest of Stanley.

The fatality is still under investigation by the Mountrail County Sheriff’s Department and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
