Margaret Frey, 76, Minot, passed away Monday, March 25, 2013, at the Garrison Memorial Hospital.
Margaret Elizabeth Pounds was born Oct. 19, 1936, in Minot. She was the youngest of 11 children born to Henry and Alice (Walker) Pounds. She was raised and educated in Minot and graduated from Minot High School in 1955. Margaret married Richard O. Frey on May 5, 1956, at Evangelical United Brethren Church in Minot. They made their home in Minot, where she was employed by North Kmart for several years until it was closed. She then worked concessions for the city of Minot at the Minot Municipal Auditorium and at the baseball/softball diamonds for several years. Richard passed away June 15, 2012.
Margaret and Richard enjoyed their many trips to Deadwood, S.D., to visit the casinos. They also had the opportunity to visit the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tenn.
Margaret was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. The most important thing to her was her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved spending time with them and watching all of their activities. She also enjoyed reading, bowling, playing bridge, and listening to music, especially Elvis Presley.
She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Minot, where she helped with their soup kitchen.
Her loving family includes: children, Brenda (Rick) Duffy, Fort Collins, Colo., Richard (Linda) Frey Jr., Minot, and Jodi (David) Meadows, Minot; grandchildren, Nichole Kelly, Eric Duffy, Cody (Erica) Meadows, Casey Meadows, and Jaime Bristol; great-grandchildren, Brogan Kelly, Makenna Kelly, Lily Meadows and Axton Meadows; sister, Fern Redding, Minot; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard Sr.; infant brother, Eddie Pounds; infant sister, Esther Pounds; brothers, Bob, Earl, Everett and Clyde Pounds; and sisters, Emma George, Evelyn “Toots” Jesson and Edna Helland.
Funeral: Saturday, March 30, 2013, at 10:30 a.m., at Faith United Methodist Church, 5900 Highway 83 N., Minot.
Interment: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot.
Visitation: Friday, March 29, from 4 to 7 p.m., at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
