Twila Enget

Twila Emma Marie Carlson Enget, 89, Kenmare, formerly of Minot and Powers Lake, went to meet her Lord on Saturday, April 6, 2013. She passed away at the Kenmare Community Hospital.

Twila was born Dec. 7, 1923, to Otto M. and Mabel (Hjort) Carlson, on the family farm near Kenmare. She graduated from Kenmare High School in 1941. She earned a standard teaching certificate and taught at Kandiyohi Country School for four years.

Twila married Avery Enget on Aug. 2, 1946, at the Niobe Baptist Church. They lived in Powers Lake for five years. While in Powers Lake their three children were born, LeeNae, Patricia and Dwight. In 1951 they moved to Kenmare. She was employed at the Kenmare Hospital for two years. In 1962, she started working for J.C. Penney Co. in Kenmare, then transferred to the Minot store in 1967 when they moved to Minot. She retired in 1983. They moved back to Powers Lake in 1989. Avery passed away on Feb. 2, 2003. Twila then moved to the Baptist Home Assisted Living in Kenmare and later to the Kenmare Community Hospital.

Twila was a member of the Kenmare First Baptist Church, Immanuel Baptist Church of Minot and Bethel Baptist Church of Powers Lake. Her strong faith led her to being very active in the church as pianist, Sunday school teacher, youth leader and the ladies circle. When she was able, she enjoyed having flowers inside and outdoors, baking brown bread, reading, ceramics and handiwork. Her family was very important to her. She always played an important role in the lives of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be truly missed.

Twila is survived by: her daughters, LeeNae (Dale) Domsten, Muskegon, Mich., and Patricia (Wayne) Christensen, Flaxton; son, Dwight (Maria) Enget, Scottsdale, Ariz.; grandchildren, Greg (Katie) Domsten, Dana (Jimmy) Gretzinger, Melissa (Ryan) Delp, Melanie (Scot) Barrett, Curtis (Michelle) Christensen, Brent Christensen and Denise (Marshall) Chrest; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Joan Enget, Arvada, Colo., Adeline (Lyman) Lorentzen, Fargo, and Eleanor Enget, Powers Lake; and brother-in-law, Glenn Arrison, Fargo.

Twila was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Avery; and brothers, Raymond, Russell and James “Bud” Carlson.

Funeral: Friday, April 12, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church, Powers Lake.

Interment: Bethel Baptist Cemetery, Powers Lake.

Visitation: Friday, one hour prior to the service, at the church.
