Williston shoot-out suspect identified
WILLLISTON The Williston Police Department has identified Ernest Schroeder, 59, as the suspect in Thursday afternoon’s shootout with police.
Police received an emergency call at 2:34 p.m. Mountain Time reporting shots being fired at a residence at 407 W. Broadway in Williston. Upon their arrival, officers reported hearing shots from within the home before Schroeder allegedly shot a rifle out of the front door in the direction of police officers.
When police returned fire Schroeder was shot at least once. He surrendered and received local medical treatment before being cleared to be transported to Williams County Correctional Facility. He is being held there with a single charge of reckless endangerment.
Police report than no law enforcement officers or any other people were injured in the incident. The Williston Police Department has not released any additional information.
