Ruth Wilke, 82, of Stanley, died Tuesday, April 30, 2013, in Mountrail Bethel Home, Stanley. Her funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, May 4, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Our Saviors Free Lutheran Church, Stanley. Burial will follow at Knife River Cemetery, rural Stanley. Visitation will be today, May 3, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Springan Funeral Home, Stanley.
Ruth Delores Woolhiser was born Jan. 24, 1931, in Colome, S.D., to Milton and Caroline (Baker) Woolhiser. She attended school in Colome, graduating in 1951. Ruth worked for a time as a nurse’s aide in Pierre, S.D. In 1956, she decided to move to Stanley, where she met the love of her life, Francis Wilke. On Oct. 6, 1957, they were united in marriage at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Stanley.
Ruth was an active member of St. Paul’s Birthday Club, keeping it going long after the church itself closed its doors. She was a current member of Our Saviors Free Lutheran Church, Stanley. Ruth loved her family and enjoyed the times they could all be together.
Ruth is survived by: her husband, Francis, of Stanley; son, Carl (Lou-Anne), Mesa, Ariz.; daughters, Patricia (Tom) Marx, Devils Lake, and Lenore (Dan) Pausig, Jamestown; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Emily Edwards, Portland, Ore., and Inez Woolhiser, Sioux Falls, S.D.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Linden, Glenn and Merle; and sisters, Eleanor and Helen.
