CARNIVAL FOR COMPASSION TO BE HELD IN MINOT Immanuel Baptist Church youth group will hold a Carnival for Compassion on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the church, 1615-2nd St. SE, Minot.

There will be food, games, face painting and a silent auction. All of the proceeds from this event will go to Compassion International’s program to help pregnant women in Third World countries who do not have access to healthy foods, water, medicines, or even beds they need to insure they and their babies have a safe beginning.

PRIMETIMERS TO MEET THURSDAY The PrimeTimers Fellowship group will meet Thursday at 2 p.m. in the church sanctuary, 700-16th Ave. SE.

Arlyce Nylander and Judy Randle, both of Minot, will provide the program on piano and organ.

Refreshments will be served following the meeting.

WOMEN’S GROUP TO PRESENT CONCERT The “Voices of Note” women’s chorus will perform a spring concert Thursday at 7 p.m. in West Minot Church of God, 1105-16th St. NW, Minot.

Directors for the choir are Roberta Johnson, Sharon Strube and Nadine Holmly. Accompanist is Briana Schwan.

A freewill offering will be taken.

Refreshments will be served after the concert.

TWO YOUTH ARE RECIPIENTS OF CITATION AWARD The Awana Club of First Baptist Church, 200-3rd St. SW, Minot, held its Award Night on Wednesday. This year Steven Miller and Heather Oswalt earned the Citation Award, an achievement for a minimum of 10 years’ worth of work and service, including attending club meetings, working with children, getting involved in their communities and memorizing approximately 1,000 Bible verses.

Awana is a Bible-centered program where children and youth can learn about God and his Word, meet new friends and participate in games.

THE THIRD OPTION MARRIAGE PROGRAM EXPANDING TO MINOT The Catholic Diocese of Bismarck will begin offering The Third Option marriage program in Minot, beginning June 6.

The Third Option helps couples who are discouraged about their marriage learn to handle anger more constructively, resolve conflicts and communicate more effectively. The Third Option not only provides a support group for married couples, but teaches new ways to handle old problems through a brief teaching and the sharing of mentor couples who have struggled, but made it through.

The group will meet for the first time on June 6 from 7 to 9 p.m. in Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 700-16th Ave. SW, Minot. Sessions will continue on the first and third Thursday of each month and will run for 14 sessions with a new topic offered at each session.

The Third Option is free to interested couples of all denominations.

CELEBRATION BREAKFAST TO BE HELD MAY 19 Knights of Columbus Council 9906 has scheduled a celebration breakfast for May 19 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the lower level of St. Leo’s Catholic Church, 218-1st St. SE, Minot.

French toast, country-style sausage, biscuits with sausage gravy and scrambled eggs will be served.

Graduating seniors from St. Leo’s Parish will be allowed to eat free.

A freewill offering will be received. Proceeds will support vocations.
