Tax Equalization director resigns

Seth Hagen has resigned from his position as Ward County Director of Tax Equalization after only six months on the job.

Hagen began the job on Nov. 1. His resignation was made over the phone to Ward County commissioners on May 7, chairman Jack Nybakken confirmed.

Earlier that day, during a commission meeting, Hagen was called out by commissioners Jerome Gruenberg and John Fjeldahl for behavior they found inappropriate for a representative of the county. Gruenberg summarized the behavior as being too casual, such as showing up late for meetings elsewhere in the county and dressing unprofessionally.

Hagen said in an email to The Minot Daily News that he resigned “to take a new and better opportunity in the community,” although he did not disclose what that job is.
