Betty Lou Johnson, 67, Minot, died Friday, May 3, 2013, in a Rochester, Minn., hospital.
Betty Lou Christenson was born Oct. 30, 1945, a daughter of Louis and Mathilda (Ellingson) Christenson, in Minot. She was raised and educated in Douglas.
On April 3, 1965, Betty was united in marriage to Darold G. Johnson in Douglas. They made their home in Minot. For many years Betty worked as a night auditor at a couple of Minot area motels, where she perfected her gift of gab. She was well known for her infectious smile and her incredible sense of humor. Betty adored being a grandma and looked forward to caring for her three grandchildren as much as she could. When her own grandchildren were not around, the neighbor kids adopted her as their “grandma.” The kids always knew when they were with Betty, there were no rules!
Betty also enjoyed spending time at Rice Lake, riding on the pontoon, visiting with friends and family and just plain relaxing.
Betty is survived by: Husband of 48 years, Darold, Minot; children, Chad (Lynn) Johnson, Minot, Travis (Jennifer) Johnson, Colorado Springs, Colo.; three grandchildren, Niklas Johnson, Thomas Johnson and Elizabeth Johnson; sisters, Ruth Wagner, Springfield, Mo., Alvie (Homer) Nesson, of Douglas: and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Lloyd Christenson; and a brother-in-law, Gerald Wagner.
