DCB guard signs with Kentucky State

Dakota College at Bottineau point guard Shakira Walker has signed a letter of intent to play for NCAA Division II Kentucky State next season.

Walker averaged 11 points per game as a freshman and was voted to the all-Mon-Dak Conference team. As a sophomore, she averaged 14.7 points despite missing 13 games after an injury in early January. Walker returned in time to help the Ladyjacks win the Region XIII title.

“We are extremely pleased and happy for Shakira as she takes the next big step in her basketball career,” DCB coach Wayne Johnson said in a press release. “She’s a very athletic player who will fit in well with Kentucky State’s uptempo style of basketball. She had a great career for us and leaves big shoes to fill at the point position.”
