MHS baseball team falls to Dickinson
MANDAN – The Dickinson High School baseball team took advantage of five Minot errors to top the Magicians 5-4 in a West Region tournament semifinal Friday at Memorial Ballpark. MHS plays Williston in a state-qualifying game today at 2:30 p.m.
“Almost all five of (the errors) turned into some type of scoring opportunities,” MHS coach Pete Stenberg said. “We outhit them, we scored four runs. We only gave up five runs on five errors. In a tournament ballgame, you can’t afford to give extra baserunners.”
In addition to the errors, MHS’ pitchers walked six batters and pegged three more.
Minot recorded seven hits, including a solo home run by junior Brady Lampert. Senior Hunter Oothoudt and junior Chandler Jacob recorded two hits apiece to pace the Magicians.
Jacob tossed four innings and suffered the loss.
Williston throttled Mandan 14-5 Friday to earn the matchup with Minot.
“We just gotta come out tomorrow and get a little better pitching a little more solid defense than we got today and things should take care of themselves,” Stenberg said.
