Gail DeMoe

Gail Kathleen DeMoe, 78, of Tioga, died suddenly on Sunday, May 26, 2013, at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Tioga.

Gail Kathleen DeMoe was born April 14, 1935, in Lansford, to Milton and Gertrude (Baggenstoss) Helming. She was baptized into the Catholic faith, and was raised and educated in Lansford.

After high school, Gail was a telephone operator in Minnesota for a time. She was united in marriage to Galen DeMoe on Aug. 27, 1955, in Lansford. After their marriage, the couple moved to Tioga where Galen worked in the oilfield. From this union in marriage, six children were born: Brian, Karla, Lori, Doug, Dean and Jamie. Gail resided in Tioga until her death.

Throughout her years, Gail gave piano lessons, worked as an aide at Tioga Medical Center, and did office work for Dr. Stewart. She retired from Williams Country Social Services as a home health aide, but continued to work as a Mary Kay consultant.

She was a member of St. Thomas Altar Society, Handy Mandy Homemakers Club and Tioga Senior Citizens. She loved to crochet, read, play piano, write poetry, send greeting cards, play Scrabble, garden, entertain and spend time with family and friends.

She will be remembered for her strong faith, sense of humor, caring spirit, love for people, and family get-togethers. Her fondest memories were spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Gail was most proud of her children’s participation in Alzheimer’s research and their crusade toward finding a cure.

Gail was preceded in death by: her son, Brian; her husband, Galen; sister, Elaine Heidbreder; two brothers, Kenneth and Mark Helming; and her parents.

Gail is survived by: her children, Karla (Matt) Hornstein, of Fargo, Lori (Steve) McIntyre, of Laramie, Wyo., Doug DeMoe, of Tioga, Dean (Deb) DeMoe, of Thompson, and Jamie (Chelsey) DeMoe, of Tioga; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The family prefers memorials, in lieu of flowers, to the Dominantly Inherited Alzheimer’s Network (DIAN) Research, in care of Karla Hornstein, 1518-12th St. South, Fargo, ND 58103 payable to: DeMoe’s Fund – DIAN Study.

Her funeral Mass will be held today, Thursday, May 30, at 1 p.m., in St. Thomas Catholic Church in Tioga. Father Shannon Lucht will officiate and interment will be held at United Cemetery in Tioga.
