Northern Lights’ Myhre wins state

MANDAN – Northern Lights golfer Nick Myhre won the Class B state championship Wednesday at Prairie West Golf Course, carding a 74 to finish with a two-day total of 146. South Border’s David Sayler finished three strokes behind in second.

Kindred won the team title with a combined score of 652, ahead of Dickinson Trinity (660), Central Cass (661) and Northern Lights (673).

Bishop Ryan finished in 10th place. Senior Kalan Elm shot a 77 Wednesday to finish with a 166 and classmate Zach Wald shot an 85 for a two-day total of 169.

“Kalan had a very good day today and Zach was consistent,” Ryan coach Chuck Finneman said. “They did quite well at state this year. I’m satisfied with them and will miss those seniors next year.”

Beulah finished sixth and Rugby finished ninth. Area golfers to finish in the top 10 and earn automatic all-state honors include Lewis & Clark’s Jaeden Jenson (79-75-154) and Ryan Ross (83-76-159) and Rugby’s Jack McClintock (76-80-156).
