Beatrice ‘Babe’ Overlee

MCGREGOR – Beatrice “Babe” Overlee, 88, died Wednesday, May 29, 2013, in a Tioga nursing home.

She was born Nov. 29, 1924, to Arthur and Nathalie (Thom) Zempel, in Seattle. She worked for several years for Great Northern Railroad in the passenger reservations office in downtown Seattle. She enjoyed many trips across the country on the Empire Builder while employed there.

She married John Overlee on Nov. 27, 1951, in Seattle. Winters were spent in Seattle, where John was employed by Boeing and summers in N.D. as John was engaged in farming. John passed away in 1976.

Babe was a member of Scandia Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid. She read every word in the Minot Daily News and loved to work the daily crossword puzzles. She lived in her home in McGregor until 2011, when she moved to assisted living at the View in Minot. On May 20, she moved to Long Term Care in Tioga.

Babe is survived by: her son, Steven, McGregor; daughters, Linda (Randy) Myhra, Hazen; Lisa Overlee (fiance Mark Vergal) Breckenridge, Minn.; grandchildren, Jennifer (Phil) Wallender, Hazen; John (Kelly) Myhra and Mark Myhra, Bismarck; great-grandchildren, Caleb, Garret and Presley Wallender; sister-in-law, Arlene Overlee, Minot; brother-in-law, Calmer Overlee, Minot; several nieces and nephews and many special friends and neighbors.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; sister, Zona Hanson; sisters-in-law, Thelma Anderson and Tillie Overlee; brothers-in-law, Oliver Hanson, Marvin Dean, Bud Anderson and Norman Overlee.

Funeral: Monday, June 3, at 2 p.m., at Zion Lutheran Church in McGregor

Burial: Scandia Cemetery, rural McGregor

Visitation: Sunday, June 2, from 1 to 5 p.m., at Fulkerson Funeral Home, Tioga.
