MSU wrestling team adds three

Velva High School senior James Bridges was one of three wrestlers added to Minot State University’s roster on Monday.

Bridges – 6-foot-3 and 174 pounds – won this year’s Class B state championship at 182 pounds and finished his senior season 38-1. Bridges, who also played football for the Aggies, was named the Region 3 Co-Senior Athlete of the Year in wrestling.

The Beavers also added Jacob Knudsvig-Parrida of Hemet, Calif., and Zachary Cummings of Birmingham, Ala.

Knudsvig-Parrida – 5-9, 184 pounds – is graduating from San Jacinto High School, where he was the school’s academic athlete of the year.

Cummings – 5-11, 165 pounds – was a two-time state champion and one-time runner up at Fultondale High School. He also competed in football and golf and earned all-conference honors on the gridiron.

MSU finished 1-15 in the program’s first season in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference
