Church, Bible are relevant from cradle to grave

In our modern society there are some who ask the question and many more think it: “What, if any relevance, does church have in our world today?”

It is true. It seems we have lost our source of need for God. Unlike our forefathers, we don’t turn to prayer for our needs. We use technology in the medical field to give us freedom from pain, in our pursuit of health and our quest to avoid death. We also have the government to give us our “daily bread” and take care of us when we get old.

Church is still relevant as it preaches the Bible. The theme of the New Testament is to prepare one’s self for entering into eternity. The Bible tells us that our lives here on this earth will be judged by God and where we spend eternity depends on the choices we make in this life. Technology does many things but it can’t prepare our soul to meet God. There is no therapy you can take or product you can buy. Only God’s word has the answers we need to questions like “What would God say to me when I see him?”

You may think I am saying that church is only relevant just before you die. No. God’s questions will be about our life, not our death, so church is relevant from cradle to grave as we spend a lifetime preparing to meet God.

The Bible tells us that our sin makes us unacceptable for heaven but Jesus came to remedy that by standing in our place for judgment and we who stand before God in his sinless place. We have an opportunity to accept his substitution gift simply by asking him to forgive our sin and we receive his gift of his sinlessness before God. All he asks of us is to become his follower not unlike the disciples. They called him “Lord.”

I have met so many people and when I ask them if they have accepted Jesus’ sacrifice for them and made him Lord of their life, they respond by saying “I am just not sure I believe.” Let me challenge you with this thought: If I live my life for Christ and I die and I am wrong, I have lost nothing. As a matter of fact the principles of living life is in the fruit of the spirit …

Love being the first and greatest, my life will be rich with blessing. If a doubter chooses to live his/her life ignoring Christ and his freely offered gift of life more abundantly and they died and were wrong, what would they lose? An eternity. So serving Christ is a win-win.

Romans 6:23 tells us “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” (KJV) and in John 3:36 we are told “And all who believes in God’s son have eternal life. Those who don’t obey the Son will never experience eternal life, but the wrath of God remains upon them.” (NLT)

Choose Jesus.
