State accepting child care grant applications
BISMARCK – Applications will be accepted beginning July 1 for a series of state child care grants. The deadline for application is Aug. 30.
The goal of the program is to increase the capacity of child care in North Dakota, through the expansion or creation of child care facilities.
“There is demand for high-quality, reliable child care providers throughout our state to support our young working families with children,” said Andrea Holl Pfennig, program coordinator. “Our goal with this program is to help create additional childcare options for working families.”
The program provides $3 of grant funds for every $1 of matching funds. Funds can be used for the purchase and renovation of real estate, furniture, fixtures and equipment. Operating expenses are not eligible under this program.
Existing profit, non-profit and public child care facilities that are expanding capacity and will be licensed upon completion are eligible for the grant program. New child care providers that will be licensed upon completion of the project are also eligible. Qualified grant proposals will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Day care facilities established prior to July 1, 2013, and day care expansion projects completed prior to July 1, 2013, are not eligible to apply for grant funding.
