ANNUAL SOUTHERN FRIED CHICKEN PICNIC TO BE HELD THURSDAY First Baptist Church XYZ, a senior adult ministry for people in the 50-plus age group, will meet Thursday at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 200-3rd St. SW, for their 25th annual southern fried chicken picnic.

A piano duet, “4 Hands on the Ivories,” program will be presented by Nancy Odland and TyAnn Sinnamon, both of Bismarck

The cost is $2 for the picnic, which will be held indoors. People are asked to bring a salad or a dessert to share.

RETREAT AVAILABLE FOR WOMEN, MEN STRUGGLING AFTER ABORTION A Rachel’s Vineyard retreat will be offered Aug. 23-25 for men and women struggling with the psychological or spiritual pain of abortion.

The retreat will be held in the Bismarck area and is sponsored by the Catholic Diocese of Bismarck. The location is released upon registration.

Married couples, mothers, fathers, grandparents and siblings, as well as persons who have been involved in the abortion industry have come to Rachel’s Vineyard in search of peace and inner healing.

Participation in a Rachel’s Vineyard retreat is confidential and open to individuals of all faith denominations.

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS FIELD MASS SET FOR SUNDAY The annual Knights of Columbus Field Mass will be Sunday at noon at the International Peace Garden.

The program will begin at 11:45 a.m. with the rosary, which will be recited in various languages.

A catered meal will follow the Mass. Cost for the meal will be $10.50 for adults and $7.50 for children under the age of 12.

Directional road signs to the field Mass will be at the entrances to the Peace Garden.
