Minot woman killed in car accident
A young woman was killed in a two-vehicle accident in Minot early Saturday.
Sgt. Larry Haug of the Minot Police Department said an 18-year-old woman was driving a car northbound in the parking lot of Menards, located at 101-28th Ave. SE, around 6:45 a.m. when the vehicle struck a parked semi.
“It hit the trailer and the vehicle went underneath the trailer,” Haug said.
The driver was the only person in the vehicle, and she was pronounced dead at Trinity Hospital.
Haug said the speed of the car upon impact is inconclusive, as are the circumstances leading up to the accident. He said no alcohol was immediately found at the scene, although an autopsy will be performed to determine if any substances were in the driver’s system.
The name of the woman is being withheld pending notification of family.
