Another preschool choice in Minot

There will be one more preschool available this fall to help youngsters get ready for kindergarten.

Mandy Burgess plans to open Kinder Kollege Preschool at her home on Sept. 4. The preschool schedule will coincide with that of Minot Public Schools.

Burgess said there will be two separate classes of children. The session on Tuesdays and Thursdays will run from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and will be for 3- to 4-year-olds. There is room for 10 children in that class. The session on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays will also run from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. and will be for 4- to 5-year-olds. There is room for 12 children in that class.

The preschool will be licensed through Ward County Social Services.

Burgess said she will focus on school readiness, with weather-based science activities and, with the older children, learning the alphabet and handwriting work. The kids will also learn a bit of sign language and have music, finger painting and art activities daily.

Burgess plans to charge $1,250 in tuition for the Tuesday and Thursday session and $1,700 for the Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays session. Parents will be able to pay in monthly installments of $145 for the two-day-a-week sessions and $195 per month for the three-day-a-week session.

Burgess, who earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education last December, has had seven years of experience working in early childhood settings, including day cares and preschools. She said she decided to open her own preschool because she has her own young children and would like to stay home with them, but also wants to teach.
