Welcome to the State Fair

The 2013 version of the North Dakota State Fair begins in earnest today, drawing thousands of visitors daily to Minot for the next nine days.

The city will be busier than usual for the next nine days, and the North Dakota State Fairgrounds will be buzzing with activity. Fair-goers will come from around the state and the region to attend concerts, munch on fair food, check out the commercial vendors, participate in all sorts of contests, and admire the thousands of exhibits. And don’t forget the State Fair Parade, which will run along Broadway and Burdick Expressway on Saturday morning.

Country star Tim McGraw kicks off the fair’s entertainment with a concert in front of the grandstand tonight, followed by legendary rock group Journey on Saturday night. Other performers this year include Credence Clearwater Revisited, Brantley Gilbert, Scott McCreery and Sawyer Brown. There are also free stages around the fairgrounds where visitors can listen to music, enjoy animal shows and other entertainment.

The preparation takes place year-round, even though the event officially lasts nine days. But what a nine days it will be. Welcome to the 2013 North Dakota State Fair.
