State Fair Parade winners
The Sevens Bar & Restaurant in Minot won the Grand Marshal Award for its entry in the North Dakota State Fair Parade held Saturday in Minot. The award is made to the overall winner of the parade judging.
Other awards were as follows:
Chairman’s Award, best commercial theme: North Dakota Port Services, Inc. and Magnum Trucking.
Governor’s Award, best non-commercial theme: Dakota Kids Dentistry.
North Dakota State Fair Award, best modern motorized vehicle: Transforming Youth Through Scouts by Jorge and Amy Gusman and The Celebrity Hotel and Casino of Deadwood, S.D.,
Roughrider Award, best equestrian award: Minot Y’s Men’s Club.
Heritage Award, depicting North Dakota Heritage: Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Heritage Center.
Parade Committee Award, most humorous: Dizzy and Cloudy With Clown Friends.
Pioneer Award, best antique vehicle: Bailey Uleberg.
Youth Sweepstakes, best youth entry: ASK Swim Club.
Lewis and Clark Award, best military unit: Support Our Troops.
Flickertail Award, best musical group: Nodakords.
Not all entries are judged but participants request to have their entries judged.
This year’s judges were Patrice Mitchell, Nancy Langseth, Bob Martin and David and Vickie Anfinson, all of Minot. Several announcers are located along the parade route.
The parade had about 208 entries, said Laura Moran, secretary of the parade committee.
Theme of the parade was “Transforming North Dakota,” with actor Josh Duhamel, a native of Minot, as grand marshal.
The parade has been held every year for more than 30 years, with the exception of 2011 when it was canceled because of the Souris River flood.
