The yeast they could do
Julia Peterson of Makoti claimed first prize in the State Fair Fleischmann’s Yeast baking contest with a creative treat called Taco Scotch. She said the word “scotch” suggests a dough baked inside a second dough.
Tobi Lynne of Minot entered “Peppy Pretzels” to win second prize and Jennifer Hutchins of Minot placed third.
An award to encourage new bakers went to Janene Peterson, Julia’s younger sister, who concocted a bread braided from apple bread, carrot bread and molasses bread.
In a separate Fleischmann’s contest for dessert pizzas, Todd Blackburn of Minot claimed the prize.
