LaVerne Larson

LaVerne “Verne” Merle Larson, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, entered his heavenly home on July 29, 2013, at Mercy Hospital in Moose Lake, Minn.

He was born in Ryder on Jan. 4, 1932, to Oscar and Bertha Larson. In 1952 he married the love of his life, Vivian Hoffman, and they had six children together.

In 1966 the family moved to a farm near Kettle River, Minn. Verne worked as a farmer, mechanic, and a contractor and he also worked at the North Dakota missile sites. He always wanted to get his grandkids “last” with a twinkle in his eye! He woke up every morning belting out a song! His sense of humor was evident until the end.

Verne is survived by: his loving wife, Vivian Larson, of Kettle River; daughter, Amy (Robert) Anderson, of Barnum, Minn., son, Steven Larson, of Kettle River, daughter, Susan Larson, of Moose Lake, son, Mark (Deb) Larson, of Gillette, Wyo., son, Keith (Linda) Larson, of Cottage Grove, Minn., son, Greg (Janet) Larson, of Barnum, Minn.; siblings, Derald and Beverly Larson and Ardis and Ronald Neshem, both of Minot; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, with two on the way.

Memorial service: There is a memorial service planned for Saturday, Aug. 3, at 11 a.m., at Holy Trinity Church in Kettle River.
