Beavers add SJHL’s Olson

The Minot State University men’s club hockey team signed forward Cole Olson of Deloraine, Manitoba, the program announced Wednesday.

Olson played the last three seasons in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League with the Estevan Bruins. The 5-foot-10, 160-pound right wing led the Bruins in scoring last season with 40 points (16 goals, 24 assists).

“Cole is one of the biggest recruits in program history,” MSU coach Wade Regier said in a press release. “He has been one of the premier playmakers for the better half of two seasons in the SJHL. Cole will make an immediate impact with our program and will be expected to provide a ton of offense the moment he steps on the ice.”

Olson finished his SJHL career with 122 points (46 g, 76 a).

Beavers sign Bahamas runner

The Minot State University cross country and track and field teams announced the signing of Eyeiessa Indirah Darville on Wednesday.

Darville competed in cross country and track and field for Kingsway Academy in her hometown of Nassau, Bahamas. Her race times include a 58.83-second mark in the 400-meter dash and a 5:10 finish in the 1,500.

“We are excited to have Eyeiessa join our team,” MSU coach Stu Melby said in a press release. “She will be a great addition with a nice range of ability from the 400 up to 1,500 and will even run cross country.”

The Beavers cross country team opens the season Sept. 13 at the Minnesota State-Moorhead Invite.

Nevada infielder joins Tetons

The Williston State College baseball team signed Dwight Douglas to a letter of intent, coach Shawn Cote announced Wednesday.

Douglas – a native of Battle Mountain, Nev. – batted .500 with 38 hits, 20 doubles and 33 runs scored during his senior season at Battle Mountain High School.

The 5-foot-10 infielder was named first-team all-state in 2012 and 2013 and was the Ruby Mountain League player of the year last season.
