Police deny animal abuse rumors
Despite persistent rumors posted by Minot residents on social media sites the Minot Police Department said that there have not been reports of animal abuse, theft or killings to back up the claims.
A search through records of police calls points to just a couple incidents that may have fueled the rumors.
A caller Sunday evening alleged that a woman was beating her dog at a southeast Minot residence but police were unable to make contact and left a direction for the animal control officer to perform a follow-up visit.
On Friday, a caller reported that some cats were stuck in a “water hole” for about three hours. Once upon the scene the officer stated that he believed the cat was deceased.
