Janice Nadine Korgel, 66, died Monday, Aug. 5, 2013, in Gilbert, Ariz.
Janice was born in Minot on Oct. 26, 1946, to Albert and Leanora (Wilson) Beeter. She was raised on a farm near Minot with three older brothers who taught her how to be tough, keep her sense of humor and never reach into your brother’s pockets, which were often filled with baby snakes.
She married Michael Selsor, but they later divorced. She then married Leo James Korgel. Together they farmed, gardened and raised their two kids, Karen and Brian.
Following Leo’s death, Jan moved to Arizona, where she lived for 1 1/2 years until the time of her death. She loved life, lived life according to her own terms, loved her family with passion and would do anything for her kids, her grandchildren, her many friends and her furry four-legged companion, Cooper.
Jan died peacefully in her Arizona home of natural causes.
She is survived by her daughter, Karen (Jay) Zimmerman, of Minot; her son, Brian Korgel, Tempe, Ariz.; grandchildren, Cole, Kate and Matthew Zimmerman, all Minot; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and Brian’s significant other, Heather.
She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Dawn Marie; her parents; her brothers; and her husband, Leo.
Jan would not want you to be sad. She would want you to continue to live, laugh and love just as she did every day of her life here on earth. We know she is at peace and walking hand in hand with her husband. We know the two of them are laughing, dancing and watching over us!
A memorial service will be held in Minot at a later date.
