Judges: MHS cheerleaders are superior
The Universal Cheerleader Association awarded the Minot High School Varsity Football Cheerleaders and the Minot High School Junior Varsity Football Cheerleaders superior squad awards at the UCA camp that took place Aug. 15-16 at Minot High School. This is the highest award given for excellence in cheer, dance, stunting and spirit.
A record nine cheerleaders were awarded All-American status for their all-around performance jumps, chant and dance. The cheerleaders are: J’Kobe Wallace; Emily Stauffer; Vytalli Klimpel; Kayley Walter; Kourtney Wehrman; Cheyenne Marcellais; Abby Howard; Kayla Myers; and Nyejha Bowen.
Marcellais and Wehrman, MHS seniors, received invitations to become part of the UCA staff for summer 2014. UCA is the leader in cheerleading training and competition featured on ESPN.
Members of the varsity team, coached by Carly Gates, are: Heather Peckham, Magi bunny; Jessica Bullard, captain; Wallace, captain; Ashley Clarkson; Howard; Klimpel; Ciara Lunstad; Marcellais; Sarah Martin; Bridgette Morgan; Myers; Jazmine Rubio; Stauffer; Hayley Walter; Kayley Walter; and Wehrman.
Members of the Junior Varsity, coached by Sarah Magnuson, are: Faith Amsbury; Allison Bean; Jordan Bergeron; Bowen; Hannah Gault; Mataya Gustafson; Dani Hughes; Mercedes Patterson; and Karissa Zumbo.
