MSU players suspended
According to an e-mail statement from Minot State University to the Minot Daily News, MSU has suspended five members of the football teams after the players were arrested by Minot Police this past Friday night.
The most serious charge, attempted murder, a Class A felony; was filed against Jesse D. Ili, also known as Jesse Tauiliili, 21, from West Covina, Calif. Ili also faces five additional charges in connection with the incident.
Four other MSU football players, Kwajo S. Bonsu, 22; Thomas D. Boles-Armstrong, 19; Grant J. Jansen, 18; and Leon L. Ladeaux, 21; were charged with possession of marijuana and ingestion of a controlled substance.
Police were responding to reports of a suspicious vehicle and possible narcotics use in the 1300 block of Eighth Street Northwest about 8:45 p.m. Friday when they encountered the players. One officer was knocked unconscious and another injured shortly after responding to the scene. Both officers were transported to Trinity Hospital, treated and released.
According to the release from MSU, no further comments or releases will be made by Minot State until more information is available.
