Betty Norrie, 79, Bismarck, formerly of Kenmare, died Sunday, Sept. 1, 2013, in a Bismarck medical facility.
Elizabeth Louise “Betty Lou” Zietz was born on Nov. 11, 1933, a daughter of Joseph and Dena (Mau) Zietz, in Grano. She was raised and educated in Tolley until her senior year, when she attended St. Agnes Academy in Kenmare, graduating in 1951.
On Oct. 5, 1952, Betty Lou was united in marriage to Fergus “Bud” Norrie in Tolley. Following their marriage, they lived in Minot and California, returning to Kenmare in 1970. Betty assisted her husband with the operations of his plumbing business, and was also a homemaker. In addition to their business, they also farmed. In 1985, they retired and enjoyed spending winters in Arizona. Bud died Feb. 14, 2012.
Betty was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She would spend countless hours with her grandchildren, attending their functions, doing crafts and playing dominoes.
She enjoyed baking pies, making potato salad, gardening, needlework, counted cross-stitch projects, playing Bingo, going for walks, birdwatching and going for boat rides.
Betty is survived by: daughters, Debi (Keith) Mogren, Kenmare, Cheryl (Steve) Fuller, Bismarck, and son, Gregory “Butch” (Connie) Norrie, of Mandan and Kenmare; eight grandchildren, Dwayne (Alesha) Mogren, Danny (Shelly) Mogren, Denyce (Ryan) Holter, Brett Fuller, Jaclyn (fiance Jeff Hinderks) Fuller, Brock (Shauna) Norrie, Brekka (Chris) Perlichek, Brea (Kyle) Haustveit; 11 great-grandchildren, Kasey, Kiely and Cole Mogren, Gage and Brickston Holter, Collin and Wyatt Mogren, Kadence and Tenley Norrie, Chaylan Perlichek, Nevaeh Haustveit; siblings, Herman Zietz, of Washington state, Ernie (Shari) Mau, Tolley, Delores Mau, Las Vegas, Maurine Gravesen, Kenmare; and several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather Wilhelm “Bill” Mau; husband, Bud; brother, Edwin Zietz; sisters, Mae Elwell and Myrtle Hamel; and a grandson, David Mogren.
Funeral: Thursday, Sept. 5, at 11 a.m., at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Kenmare.
Burial: Lakeview Cemetery, Kenmare.
Visitation: Thursday from 10 a.m. until service time, at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Kenmare.
