Rueben Wallace Hanson, born Jan. 15, 1941, in Minot, lost his battle with cancer March 19, 2013 in Pomona, Calif. Rueben was preceded in death by his parents, Casper and Loretta Hanson. He followed in his father’s footsteps and joined the Navy on Feb. 9, 1959. When he was discharged he continued to live in California.
Rueben is survived by: his children, Jonathon and Renee; sisters, Kathryn (Vernon) Hartleib and Patricia Hanson; and nieces and nephews, Craig (Lori) Hartleib, Allen (Diana) Hartleib, Teresa (Mick) Towle, Kim Hartleib, Lloyd Hartleib, Sharmin Hartleib, Chad (Barbara) Moore and Lisa Jones.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Tom and Roseanne Carroll and Greg Cotton, Rueben’s best friend in California, who was there for him through it all. Special thanks go to the American Legion of Pomona for all they did in sending Rueben home to North Dakota and the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, for all their help. It is greatly appreciated.
Funeral service: Will be held Monday, Sept. 9, 2013, at 11 a.m., at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, south of Mandan.
