Lawrence ‘Larry’ Franklin
Lawrence “Larry” C. Franklin, 81, Ryder, passed away Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013, in a Garrison hospital.
Larry was born on June 17, 1932, in Pitcher, N.Y., the son of dairy farmers Clyde and Marvel Franklin. Larry served 20 years in the Air Force as a flight engineer and two years in Vietnam. He was united in marriage to Frances Laverne Hansen on Nov. 11, 1973, in Rochester, Minn. Larry worked as a truck driver for 10 years for Pro Transport, which is stationed out of Grand Forks.
Larry loved flying planes and fishing in his spare time.
He was a member of West Minot Church of God.
Larry is survived by: his loving wife of 40 years, Frances; sons, Jerry Petersen, Ryder, and David Eshanko, Fargo; daughters, Donna Kindred, Quartz Hill, Calif., and Sandra Reeves, Columbia, Mo.; 12 grandchildren, Trevor, Tony, Billie, Jerri, Terri, Josh, Travis, Ashley, Adam, Robert, Ronald and Tracy; and eight great-grandchildren, Skyler, Cashen, Mitchel, Marissa, Naomi, Paul, Damion, Brooklyn and London; and sisters, Mary Lou Currier and Shirley White, both of Cincinnatus, N.Y.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents and son, James Franklin.
Funeral service: Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013, at 1 p.m. at West Minot Church of God.
Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot.
Visitation: Wednesday, Sept. 11, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
